Special Edition of 6
The Point of Contact Gallery, 2010
$200

ABOUT THIS PIECE
The original Nude Descending (2002) is a sequence of 5 images of a woman descending a staircase, created for the 2007 issue of Point of Contact: On Love (Vol. 6 No. 1-2). A sixth image (from which this special edition was made) was designed for that book's cover and backcover. There is a seventh piece, a photographic experiment where the artist’s hand appears in the photo.
All pieces were included in the 2007 exhibition In Woman Veritas at The Point of Contact Gallery, and then again, on October 2010 as part of The Point of Contact Gallery’s anniversary program La Colección: The Collection commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Point of Contact literary series, and 5th anniversary of The Point of Contact Gallery.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Joseph Kugielsky has worked as a photographer for The New York Times since 1979, and has photo illustrated several books, including New York: Open to the Public (a book of museums and open spaces in New York City). His work has been exhibited widely and can be seen in The New York Times, Architectural Digest and Fine Homebuilding. Has also been a contributing photographer to: Life, Time, Fortune and Smithsonian magazines among others.
STATEMENT
“Joseph Kugielsky’s art is always a journey that wants to last, a methodical study in the language of retention perfected by photography. Retention is a very ancient goal, in fact, the very elaborate act that keeps Art (or Love) going before the tidemarks of arrivals and easily fulfilled dreams take over.” Pedro Cuperman, Curator
